I open at the close

The subject line refers to the sentence inscribed on the Snitch in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What it implies if snitch would open at the close of Harry Potter's adventure. When he went to fight Voldemort in the forest and willingly die so that the world could be a safer place, that was the close of his adventure, and so the snitch opened up allowing him to see his parents once again before he went to fight and get the encouragement he needed.

Basically,one adventure ended,only to give rise to another one.

i quote this as we come to an end of an eventful journey that started on 2008-a journey of two years called MBA @SIBM Pune. its about to conclude before this month ends.a journey which we started with dreams in our eyes..and its coming to its logical end.

everyone around me is getting sentimental about the end of the college. and why shouldn't they?after all the time we spent over here was surely the best time of our lives. and for almost all of us,the college life is about to end(finally) and we are about to enter the corporate world. no longer can we afford to live a carefree life where the biggest tension was that of managing the attendance!!! The worries included assignment submissions,wondering which place to visit for a party,thinking whether a girl likes you or not and such trivial things...all that would soon be a thing of the past...

we would spend money to take a break from our hectic lives to come to go to a hill station and relax..And that time we would surely remember and miss these hills we spent our two years cribbing about..And we would realise that these god forsaken hills were indeed best than the best of the hill stations,in the company of our beloved friends....

we embark upon a journey in the corporate world. a journey into the world of competition...and though we wish that these two years should have lasted forever, we all are looking forward to the same...

as time passes,we would just stare back at these two years and say out loud "Those were the best days of my life...."

Will miss all this...like hell.....

I ART

Today, we start with the interviews for selecting the junior members of ART. Looking back over the past couple of months can’t help but think that we are going to miss the existing I team. A bunch of diverse people, gelling together and performing their tasks efficiently.Working hard and partying harder..

Here’s a brief look at each of them: Adwitee, Nakul, Nitin, Preeti and Sanjeev:

• Adwitee: The chatterbox of the team. Constantly on the move. Loves to be with people, to talk and to eat. Self confessed foodie. The official writer of the team. Came up with superbly worded reports and write-ups for the team.
• Nakul: Comes across as an intense and brooding guy. But is not! Very mischievous and with a twinkle in his eyes. Can crack jokes which are almost as pathetic as nayyar’s and mine. A die- hard Sachin Tendulkar fan. The creative brain of the team. Designed awesome posters for our events as well as a few videos. Also, the only marathi manoos of the I team and hence responsible for handling the office too…
• Nitin: The serious guy. A towering personality. The operations guy. Planning and strategizing for the team. Got a lovely South Indian accent. Mr. Dependable of the team…
• Preeti: The baccha of the team…sweet little girl with a lovely smile…the PR girl. Her mere presence is enough to light up the team room...can cause all tensions to evaporate with her smile and soothing voice…
• Sanjeev: The happy mascot of the team (pun unintended). Bears the brunt of leg pulling by all of us sportingly. Loves to flirt and to party. Again the creative guy. Came up with amazing posters for Srujan.also responsible for managing content on iAspire

Had a wonderful time with these people during the I-team tenure. Hope to relive those moments again in the J team if they do make it through…..

Summers 09-Week 1

It has been an awesome 10 days since I landed in Gurgaon. Busy with office, market visits, truck rides, amusement parks, white water rafting... Done all that!!!!

My summers formally started last Monday i.e.6th April. The CEO of the company addressed us. More details abt this might follow later. The next couple of days were spent by us in the markets of Delhi. One day I went in Motibagh area along with the market developer. The next day we were inside a truck delivering the products!!! It was awesome fun and learning at the same time. We also visited the factory at Dasna on Thursday.

Then came our long weekend. The company had arranged a visit to an amusement park called 'Adventure Island' for us interns. We had a nice time with all the rides and had great fun.

We planned a trip to Hardwar-Hrishikesh over the weekend. And we actually executed the plan too!!! It was the best weekend of my life!! More on that later!! In fact more on all these later!!

Summers 09-Prologue

Landed in Delhi/Gurgaon today for my summers with HCCB. They have put us in a nice cosy guest house that reminds me of my TML guest house in Cannaught Place! Similar in all respects except they don't serve sweet dish for dinner but i dont mind. What matters is we have got a nice place to rest ourselves and food too,unlike many of my batchmates.

We have to report at 07 30 am sharp at the corporate office. Now,thats a bit too early by all standards,but have to. Again reminds me of TML when i had to catch the company bus @ 07 25.

Met a few other guys over dinner and after. Had general chat.

Looking forward to reenter the corporate life tomorrow,this time as a trainee...

Last one to go!!

Well,in less than 24 hours,this hostel will be silent as we all pack our bags and head home! The last paper is all that remains. Fin and Mark people are busy slogging while Ops people have just woken up from their slumber and trying to find energy to go thru their subject. HR people,well,no comments!!!

I really dont feel like studying at all. Had gone out in the afternoon with some errands in the city. Came back at 5 and have been sleeping since then. And today's paper has completeley drained me out. I dont have the energy and the ink left to faff for another 3 hours tomo. And i could at least draw on my work-ex in writing today's paper. Tomorrow,it might be a bit tough. Let us see....

MBA / 2

As committed,I am posting regularly now. This is my second post in 10 days and going by my blogging track record,its an achievement!!!

We are at the fag end of our exams with only two papers to go. These two are the 'core' subjects of my specialisation and i don't feel like studying at all!! Been sleeping most of the day. And why do I not feel like studyin? I dont know. Maybe its the effect of the exhausting last week,maybe its because the end is near,maybe because I am pure lazy or maybe........

Another 2 and a half days and we all will be 50% MBAs. One year(actually 10 months) is gone. Rather,it just whizzed by. It feels as if it was just yesterday that we made the tortuous journey to a place called Lavale, which even the hardcore Puneites would not have heard of. It was another Sunday when i came here bags,baggage and a borrowed laptop. Settled down and started my MBA next day at 0900 hrs.

One year of fun, friendships which will last forever, parties, assignments, submissions, projects, summers, vivas, admissions process, fights, makeups, heartbreaks.....

And now we move on for the most important part of the MBA course-the Summer Internships or 'Summers' as is popularly known. And it acquires a special significance this year due to the importance of PPOs and PPIs,given the recession.

I would be joining Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt.Ltd on 6th April. Next Sunday,this time I would be in Gurgaon,waiting for the Summers to begin and awaiting the final destination for my Project.

It is a bit tough to survive for two months without the crowd around,crowd which has become an inseparable part of my life. Will be missing them like hell,i am sure.

At the same time,I am looking forward to the Summers,which will mark my reentry in the corporate world after a year,albeit as a trainee. I never thought that i would say this,but there have been periods when I was missing my company badly.. Even I am surprised at that...

Anyways,hope that the next two papers don't maul me as some others have in the past few days. Although,with the amount of effort I have put in,I should be prepared for the worst..
